I'm trying to copy+paste an independent query like in the video but I when pasting, I keep getting this error:

Expression.Error: We couldn't find an Excel table named 'SrcBasicUnpivot'.

Hi Jordan,

Welcome to our forum!

It sounds like you're pasting the query into a new workbook or one that doesn't contain the table called 'SrcBasicUnpivot'. The query is looking for this table in the current file i.e. the file you're pasting the query into.

Hey Miynda,

It makes sense that a query can't be paste if the data source is not in the sheet. However, on your video you have said that an independent query can be used in another sheet. Is that applies only if pasting the data source as well?

Thanks,

Jordan

If you're using the query in another sheet in the same workbook then you don't need to duplicate the data again because the query should be able to find it. If your source data is external to the query file, then you can paste the query to a new workbook without any issues because the query knows that the data is external. It's only when your source data is in the same file as the query that you need to consider that where the query is looking for the data.
