Hello All,
I studied Power Query but not have experence for it yet. I just ask one questions.
I can have .txt files with original data in one folder every day, one file every day. Then I may use use template in Power query to process data and story in data model in Excel file. After that, can I delete the .txt files accordingly or some of them by date? Can I can still keep all accumulated data in the data processing Excel file?
Just have this thought.
The short answer is, no! If you delete the files from the original folder and then refresh the query it will also remove the data from the model. The only way to avoid this happening is to never refresh the query, which I don't think you want.

Thanks for your reply.
Is there a way to meet this purpose? Since the original files will be for couple years, after I input into Excel, the purpose of files finish and I don't want to keep unused files always in the computers.
Hi,
Would it be possible to store your data and updates on a thumb drive, then set the "Source" in PQ to the thumb drive.
I was never a fan of deleting data. You never know when you might have to reconstruct your files.
