Hi all, I am wondering if you have expereriened the subject issue. Whenever I press refresh, an error message pop up saying 'External Dta Refresh Failed'. Does any one know if there is a way to solve this. Thanks in advance.

Where is the source of data for that Power Query from the file you are opening in Excel Online?

hi Catalin, the source of data for the power query is from SharePoint

Power Query does not work in excel online, only in excel desktop app unfortunately.

I sometimes get this error. Has the saving cycle to SharePoint fully completed? If not, you might get rejected message. I always check for the word ‘Saved’ next to the file name, top-left, before running a Refresh All.
