Hi Mynda

I watched video 3.02 but get an error message (excel.currentworkbook(File.contents(worksheets not correctly formatted))

The second time I tried again I got an Expression error (see pdf)

I followed the video step by step

I am on a learning curve so sorry about all my queries

regards

Hi Dieneba,

The attachment is an Excel file, not a PDF. Please upload the pdf again and let me know if you want me to remove the spreadsheet attached in the post above.

Note: please be sure to post your questions under the course members' forums so that I see them and can promptly reply. You have been posting them to the general public forums and I have been moving them to the course members' forums when I notice them, but I'm concerned I will miss one.

Hi Mynda

I hope this time I am in the right place:(

In fact, the pdf file was just the error message I received.   The excel file was to show you the data.  I tried several ways following your steps but I am struggling to find the right method for this type of table.   Do I have to clean it before I use it with Power Query?

The idea is to get the revenue and expenses from 2016 to 2021 on two separate tables.  I also tried to create a new file with 2 sheets for each year: 2016 Revenue, 2016 Expenditure, 2017 Revenue, 2017 Expenditure, etc.  The data is per country and for the total EU.  Still does not work because of the way the initial data is presented.  Maybe this is covered later in the training.

I enclose the test I made.  You can compare it with the initial excel file I sent.

Regards

Dieneba

Hi Dieneba,

Please see the file attached. Note: you will have to edit the file path to reference the budget file on your own PC as it's currently referencing mine.

I hope that points you in. the right direction.

Hi Mynda

This is great and it answers my question.  I need to first clean the table if the presented one is not exploitable by Power Query.  I will save this file on my computer and get the file path from there.

Thanks once more Mynda.

Your training is second to none having done several in the past:) It's great:)

You're welcome 🙂

You shouldn't need to clean the table before loading it to Power Query. That's Power Query's raison d'etre!

P.S. thanks for your kind words about my training!
