Hi, I have a column of text values, most of which start with a prefix in the format of "nnnnnnnnnn - ", ie 10 variable digits followed by space hyphen space. I'd like to remove these 13 characters if they meet the above format, and leave the others untouched. Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,
I would use 'Add column from examples' and then give it a few examples for text with and without the hyphen. That should be enough for it to write the formula for you.
If not, please provide a sample Excel file that illustrates the different permutations of data you might have and the desired result so we can see exactly what you're dealing with.
