Different PBI files connecting (wrongly) to same data sources

Hello!

I have created 2 Power BI files for 2 different clients.  I've connected each to my clients' sets of QuickBooks Online.

However, when I open a PowerBI file, it will connect to the most recently connected QBO file (pulling one of my client's accounting data into my other client's PowerBI file).

Does anyone know how to keep the data separate?

I've tried deleting the connection from the global permissions screen, but this deletes it from my 'data sources in current file' screen too.  When I reconnect it in the current file, it automatically puts it back in my global permissions screen again.

Thanks in advance.

I think that the only way is to sign in as a different user, every time you use one of the files.

You can do that from Global Permissions>QBO>Edit>Sign In as a different user. In a perfect world, it should ask to select an account, if you signed in into more than one account, maybe in the future it will.

Thanks, Catalin.  I've scheduled a call with Microsoft to see if there's a more elegant solution.  If they find one, I'll post back here.

I just got of the call with Microsoft.  Their answer was that the QBO connection is still in development so there are likely to be problems and they really can't vouch for anything until it's fully integrated.

I'm going to look for other ways to connect.  I might end up dropping a monthly transaction Excel sheet into OneDrive and have PowerQuery just pull stuff from that drive.  It's not as elegant, but it's better than risking crossing client data.
