For several reasons I've decided to make my main desktop system multi-boot and also separate data onto separate disc. So I have 2x SSD for boot office 32 and Office 64 system. Separate disk E: for Dropbox which is all my user data.
This also means that I can restore a system backup without endangering data on Dropbox. also only 1x Dropbox on the main desktop.
Now I also have a laptop and reserve desktop on which I want all those excel files to work too, which do not have an E: disk.
I found that I can create a system environment variables to define location of Dropbox per pc. That works well with-VBA but not with the sources of Power Query.
There are a few work-arounds I can think of, like putting all those volatile files in my windows user area, but it annoys me that they are work-arounds.
Is there some way to import system variables into power query that is possible for an amateur?
Hi Trevor,
Please see session 7.03 and 7.04 of the Power Query course on dynamic folder and file paths.

Thanks Mynda, had not got that far... Anyhow found a universal solution: Map dropbox to a virtual windows drive B: on all pc's 🙂
Yep, that'll work too 🙂
