HI,
our IT build a report in SAP which I can see/use in Oracle SQL Developer. This report is about 1.8 Mio lines. Is it possible to build a connection from Power Query or Power Pivot to the SQL Developer to import the data directly?
If yes, what type of import do I need to chose and what are the criteria/information that I need to provide to establish the connection? (theoretically, of course not the specific information)
Thx
regards, Christoph
Hi Christoph,
Yes, you can and should use Power Query to get the data and load directly to Power Pivot.
If the SAP you speak of is a SAP HANA database then there is a connector built into Power Query for this. If not, then you can use the Oracle Database connector. You'll need the Oracle client software v8.1.7 or greater installed on your PC first.
Then at the Oracle Database dialog box you'll need the Server Name, which is the Oracle server you want to connect to. And if a SID is required, then can be specified in the form of "ServerName/SID". Your IT people should be able to help you with this.

Thank you; I´ll check it and try to get it established.
best regards, Christoph
Hi My co also using SAP GUI (old version). well, for better understanding, is it possible to show us the quick video demo here on how to direct connect with SAP and pull in data into power query. Previously, i keep asking around with external trainers but no one seems have SAP knowledge until i found you...hope you can show us quick screen demo here.....
Hi Tan,
I'd love to but I don't have SAP, sorry. Here are some links explaining the SAP connectors available:
I know not all SAP databases have a built in connector, so this may be why you're having trouble.
Sorry I'm not more help.
