I see here that I can pull public census data from the internet. That's incredible. I'm super excited that the first result was nursing home data as that is EXACTLY what my client needs!
However, in O365, I cannot find the button you say. On your screen you have a ribbon called POWER QUERY. But when I open Excel, I do not have that ribbon (I have DATA ribbon, but I don't see the button).
Not sure how to get that ribbon to show. Please advise.
Hi Kelly, in Excel 2016 there is no separate tab for Power Query, in this version PQ is integrated in excel, it's no longer an add-in.
You will find a new section Get & Trasform in the Data tab.
Hi Kelly,
In session 1.03 I cover the differences between the different Excel versions and there is an image below the video that maps the different menus.
In session 2.08 I cover the Data Catalog search which allows you to pull public data. In that video I explain that this is no longer available in Excel 2016 except for Power BI Pro users...but even then it's only for internal data. Your best alternative is to go directly to the Census website and either download their sample files, or if the data is in the web page itself you can use 'From Web' in Power Query.
