Hi
I had this problem before and Mynda solved it for me:
So I tried to use the solution on this new version of the problem. However, my solution doesn't work and I'm pretty sure it is because I'm not using the right columns in the SUMX formula.
I've attached screenshots. I don't want to attach the actual file, firstly because it is pretty big and secondly because it is people's timesheet data including pay rates and very hard to depersonalise. But I can send it through email if you would like to see it.
Hi Mardi,
Your parentheses are in the wrong place. The * [Sum of Hours] should be inside SUMX like this:
=SUMX('Tbl All Staff', 'Tbl All Staff'[Hour Charge Out Rate] * [Sum of Hours] )
Mynda
OMG how stupid do I feel? All that fiddling around with it and it is as simple as that! Thanks!
🙂 you won't forget this lesson though, so all worthwhile in the end.
I did a one day Power BI course arranged by my work yesterday - classroom style. It was called "advanced reports" but it was far from advanced - I don't think I learned anything I hadn't seen already doing your course. The problem is that people who have never even seen Power BI enrolled themselves in it so most of the day was pretty basic stuff. That was the second Power BI course I've done through work and both have been the same 🙁
Anyway, I thought I'd take this opportunity to thank you because your course is so comprehensive yet easy to follow. I keep telling the people I work with to check it out so hopefully some of them have done that!
Thanks for your kind words and spreading the word about us! We sincerely appreciate it. 🙂
What a shame yesterday was a waste of your time.
