Hi,

I haven't had the chance to finish the whole Power Pivot course yet, so I don't know if my problem will be covered in one of the sessions.

Also I searched the internet, but couldn't find the right solution for my problem.

Unfortunately I need to solve a reconciliation tasks quite soon.

Therefore I would like to ask if you could assist with my 'little' problem. I uploaded the file including comments and questions.

I hope it is understandable. In case of questions please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

You need to unpivot the data so that you don't have your monthly data spread across multiple columns. You can do this with Power Query.

Then you can use the Time Intelligence DAX functions to calculate the change month on month. In the attached file I've unpivoted your data and added it to the Power Pivot model as table Recon (2).

You'll also see I've added a date table and some measures to calculate the previous month and variance. I hope this points you in the right direction. You really need to finish the courses so you're self sufficient.

Hi Mynda,

Thanks for your quick reply.

The first paragraph is quite the eye opener 😉 I think I understand what the problem is.

Nevertheless could you please attach your file with the unpivoted data so I have some kind of orientation.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Tobias

File is attached. Not sure why it didn't stick the first time.
