Hi -

I'm upgrading my 2010 data model power query/power pivot files from 2010 to 2016.

1.  I keep getting a error msg with refresh all "The query did not run or the Data Model could not be accessed.  Here's the error message we got:  The '43167' string cannot be converted to the date type."

There is a date and timestamp column in each record. I've gone though all my date columns settings in the queries and they appear to be correct.

Any ideas on where else to look?

Thank you in advance.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

When you look at the Queries pane in Excel do you see any queries with errors under the query name?

Hi Mynda,

Thanks for your response.

I’m on travel until next week and will check the file when I get back.

Will let you know.

Hi Mynda,

Thanks for your patience.

There were no queries with errors under the query name.

What I have found is:

1.  After converting the file from 2010 to 2016, the date in the tab/table is an integer. See attached word doc with details.

2. If the tab/table display is converted to a short date I get the error message.

3. If I don't change the tab/table display I no longer getting the error message.

Appears I'm all set for now by leaving the Tab/Table display as an integer, but if there is a work around to get the Tab/Table display to show in short date it would be appreciated.

Thank you and have a great day.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for the update. It is very odd. I'd have to see some sample data so I can try to replicate it myself. At least you have a workaround for now.

Hi Mynda,

I tried to replicate the problem but was unsuccessful.

Went back to the original 2010 file, copied it and upgraded to 2016.  The Tab/Table date is now in short date format.

Not sure what went wrong with original upgrade file, but all set.

As always, thanks for your time.
