Hi Mynda,
When I built Excel charts I normally customize them by including a combination of different types of charts in one (e.g. lines and bars etc.).
Are there any visuals letting user do so?
It seems in general like Power BI visuals are not flexible. For example I cannot convert line graph into dots by making data points colored and shaped and a line connected them colorless or the same color as background to make it invisible. Actually, I cannot customize data points in line graph at all.
Mynda,
I've just found the appropriate visual (mix of lines and bars).
However, the question about a line graph is still topical for me.
Hi Oleg,
Correct, the customize options in Power BI are still quite limited. The only lines you can change to a different style are the Constant lines.
At fist we Excel users find this a real bug bear, but you get used to it 😉
If you really need a particular chart from Excel then you can use the Power BI Publisher for Excel add-in (session 8 of the course), and pin the Excel chart to your dashboard in the Power BI service (not Power BI Desktop), but doing that means it's just a static image that doesn't have any interactivity like the Power BI visualisations.
