It is my understanding that to view a Dashboard that has been published using PowerBI Pro, the user wanting to view must also have a Pro account. My thought was to publish to the Web but the course indicates that if you do this anyone who has the URL, inside or outside the organization can view the dashboard. A colleague was recently in some Microsoft training and was told there is now a way to limit the URL to within the organization. Can you confirm or deny? If this is possible how is it done?

Thanks

AJB

Hi Adele,

That's correct. I would think that you can publish to an internal intranet site that is accessible only to employees and this is no different to sharing an Excel workbook containing reports. You trust employees not to share internal files and just the same you'd trust them not to share a URL to the Power BI dashboard, it's really no different.

You could maybe even limit the intranet page containing the Power BI dashboard to specific employees through the intranet security, but that's for your IT people to determine, it's not a Power BI control.

Hope that clarifies things, but let me know if you have any further questions.

Could you embed the link in an intranet site so that people could see and interact with the dashboard without having to choose a link?

Yes, that's what I meant. You'd just provide them with a link to the page on your intranet site that already has the Power BI dashboard embedded.
