Hi,

I've just started the Power BI course. I've been using Power Query and Power Pivot so far and would like to know if it's possible to import a connection-only data file from an Excel file into Power BI? Thank you.

Hi Linda,

When you select a workbook to import data into Power BI, the application will detect the entire data model, including existing relationships between tables.

Not sure what means for you "connection-only data file from an Excel file"

Hi Catalin,

Thanks for your reply. My question is, when I import an Excel file into Power BI, it only shows the sheets which I have closed and loaded as a worksheet. It doesn't display the connection-only queries. How do I import the connection-only queries? Thank you.

Linda

Hi Linda,

Make sure those queries are not just added as connections only, check the box to add it to data model also, Power BI will detect the data model and relationships.
