I have a drill through page with one field for the drill through with Cross Report and Keep All Filters ON both selected. This works on the PBI for desktop. However, on the published web service it works the first time the report is published but after that the cross report retains multiple previous filters and thus returns a blank. I can see the filters that are set and they refer to previous drill through selections. The filters do not reset every time. Any advice on how to adress this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Peter,

Welcome to our forum!

To clarify and using the Contoso example from the course, let's say you have a filter applied to the Gross Profit by ChannelName and ClassName column chart for Deluxe, then you right-click the column for Store Regular and follow the drillthrough to the Channel Reports, it should show the data filtered for ChannelName Store and ClassName Regular. i.e. it removes the filter for Deluxe because the Regular column was right-clicked for drillthrough.

Are you saying that the drillthrough results show the data filtered for Deluxe and Regular? If so, I'm not able to replicate this. Have you tried setting the drillthrough rules etc. in the Power BI service to see if that clears up any issues?

Hi Mynda

Firstly, thanks for great training videos!! I have learned a ton and have managed to get my whole BI initiative off the ground and working.

I believe I have found the issue. There were some direct relationships that were deactivated because of indirect relationships being in existence. I did not know of the distinction between direct and indirect before and am still trying to get my head around it. I deleted one unneeded direct relationship and reactivated the others that had been automatically deactivated. I just realized that you can see which relationships are deactivated in the relationship view where the lines linking the tables are dotted, not solid. Once I fixed these issues I find that the drill through now works on the desktop and web service view correctly.

I have not looked at the drillthrough rules in the service, but will take a look to better understand what differences there are between web service and desktop.

Thanks

Peter
