Good Afternoon:

I am trying to create a matrix that will show the total amount of new cases per month and year. I understand that I have to create a Measure to do the calculations but I am not sure if first I have to create variables for each filter and then find the percentage but that will take me some time

I appreciate any recommendations.

Regards

Hi Mariena,

It's not clear why you aren't able to use the report as is. It appears to show the total amount of new cases per month and year from the screenshot you have provided. Unless these numbers are cumulative? That said, your forum subject eludes to a percentage calculation.

If so, you can use a Quick Measure to calculate month on month/year on year percentages. See session 3.06 from the Power BI course.

I hope that helps.

 Hello Mynda:

Thanks for your response sorry I was not clear. I am trying to show the percentage difference between January 2017 and 2018 example for January 2017 we had 797 new admission (Count ID) and in January 2018 we had 816 I want to show the following:

Month 2017 2018 Difference

January 797 816 2.33 %

This count id is cumulative and when I try to use the Quick Measure to calculate month on month/year on year percentages I receive a 0 result. I will attach the screens to see if you can help me. I went back and watch the video you recommended

Thanks so much Main-Table-Admissions.JPGDate-Table.JPGError-when-creating-year-to-year-quick-measure.JPGQuick-Measure-with-date-from-Date-Table-active-relation-with-admission-date.JPGResul-from-Quick-measure-0.JPG

Hi Mariena,

Try putting the date field in your quick measure table. Without context it will not calculate. i.e. it doesn't know what year to what year it should be calculating.

Hello Mynda:

Thanks for your quick response. Is there any class video that can help me with this? I keep getting 0 as a result.

Regards;

Can you share the Power BI file with me? Either here or email it if it contains confidential data - website @myonlinetraininghub.com Please ensure the table you're testing the measure in at the year level of detail and with the quick measure is in the file before sending it to me so I can see what you've tried.
