What does a new 365 function look like when file opened in old Excel version?

Hi all, I'm playing with the new Filter and Unique functions and think about using them for a solution for people who probably work with different Excel versions.

I suppose they can't use them in the way you can when you are using the 365 version?

But how is this working out? Do they only see empty cells, or errors, or can they see the saved version with the then selected data - but can't they change anything? I can't try this out myself, so thought about starting with asking here.

thanks for information on this!

They should see a #NAME? error and the function will be prefixed with _xlfn in the formula bar.

Edit: the above is what will happen if the formula recalculates for any reason. The original values saved with the workbook should be displayed until then, though the formula bar will show the _xlfn. prefix)

Thanks Velouria. Maybe this will do for this purpose (with some explanation to the users if this happens).
