Dear all,

Sometimes I received external data and then need to rework the information in order to make a pivot table and analyse the data. Attached an easy example about what I need. In column NOME I have A that it applicable for the rows below until B..... how can I copy the same name for empty cells. A colleague one day showed me something with Go TO... but I didnt remember.

Thanks for support.

Hi Hava

There is no attachment. Anyway you can try this.

1) Select any cell within the data.

2) Press the F5 function key

3) Click Special...

4) Select Blanks and click OK (all blank cells in the data will be selected)

5) Press the = sign once and the UP arrow key once (you will see a formula appearing in a cell).

6) Press CTRL+ENTER to finish

7) All the blank cells will now be filled in with the values. Note that they are all formulas and must be converted to values.

8) Copy the entire range and paste as value

Hope this helps

Sunny

Hi Sunny.

Happy New Year!! Sorry for my literally late reply. I tried to do what you explained but when I select = + UP appear me a = and then I can´t copy the text above blank cell. Attached an example with quantities sold for each pharmacy. I would like to copy automatically the name of pharmacy for blank cells and sometimes I receive some reports that only one cell is filled and the next ones not and for do pivot tables etc its more easy..

Ex: Farmácia Lopes sold 10 , 20 units... for some wholesaler.. so I would like that where I see 20 units also copy Farmacia Lopes..

Thanks in advance,

Hi Hava

In your example, cell A1 cannot be blank. Just enter something into A1 and then use the method that I have suggested above.

Hope this helps.

Sunny

I use this a lot.  Only hiccup I find is if the cells you are trying to copy down are formatted as Text.  It usually works best if the cells are formatted as General.
