Hi,

I want to rename a few excel files/spreadsheet (they have unique file names) that are linked to a another file (the master file) and they are all within the same folder.

When I rename each of the the files, the link(s) to the master file is broken.  How do I maintain or update the link in the master file by renaming each of the excel files. The data is pulled in from each of the excel files into the master file by using different formulas (sumifs, vlookup etc) and they are large files. The folder and files are all saved in SharePoint.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Mel

Hello,

There is, to my knowledge, no other tool than find and replace, wheras you search for the old filename in the formulas and replace that with the new filename.

Thank you Anders.

It's going to be a tedious process using find and replace, but if there is nothing out there, than I have no option.

Much appreciated!

The process I have used is to open the Master file and open all the files that are linked to it.  Then I "Save As" the file names I need to change, then finally Save the Master file.

I have only done this with say 3-4 linked files to one Master file.
