How can we reduce the size of a file in Microsoft Excel?

Hello,
Assuming you have an .xlsx file. Apart from the obvious, remove data you don't need and keeping pictures and formatting to a minimum, you can save the file as an .xlsb (binary). There are surely other tips that would suit your needs better.

Hi John,
Just for my interest: when do you have problems with a 'big' Excel file? I almost never have problems with 'big' Excel files and when I see most of the files even don't have more than 2Mb. That's far beyond a regular photo/jpg nowadays!
Some greater Workbooks with lot's of tabs/sheets and data are more than 10Mb but function perfect.
So what is it that makes your workbooks/files so big?
