I am trying to show various gross margin percentages i.e. save the sales value that appears as a row value in a column and then show that as a percentage of the running total of the same column.

Ideally I want to show this percentage in the same column under a specific row [the percentage is only required after certain running totals not ALL]. But if this is not possible, then another column would also be ok.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure where you're looking for because it gives 'power point' in the item name?

And an example of what you want would have helped!

I tried something:

Here a normal calculation in column C of the sales in B and the same one but only presenting the more than 10% in column D

Is this the direction you are aiming at?

Hi, I am referring to a pivot table. Attached my sample. I put some notes on it.

Many thanks for your time and assistance.

For anyone interested, I have actually found a way of doing this, including showing the margin percentages on the same data column.

So your case is solved? Would be nice to show how you did it so we all learn from it?  🙂

My data is the result of a SQL Stored Procedure. What I did in SQL is to flatten out the entire dataset and the required subtotals as if they are sitting at the same level. So the dataset being returned to excel has rows for the detail lines I want to show, then rows for the subtotals, then rows for other subtotals as I require them at various levels. I formatted the pivot table so that the representation of the data has the look and feel as if the calculations are happening in the pivot table but they actually are not. I sorted these 'detail' lines as I wanted them to appear. Then I added calculated items for percentage calculations and positioned them accordingly. I can post a sample if interested. Will not be able to upload the 'real' file as it seems to be exceed allowed file size.

Cheers
