Option Buttons Keep Changing

Hello

I hope everyone is well!

I have an audit form that requires the collection of certain information.  I have a number of option buttons, some in their own group because it is an either question and some that are not because each is its own group.

I am being driven insane right now because when I add a new button lower on the page, buttons above cause issues because they change their cell link.  Also, I have a group of 2 options - conservative or aggressive - and after adding other option buttons below now both of these options are linked so selecting conservative also then enables aggressive to be checked.

Any and all assistance greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Shelley,

If you're sure that when you add the new button it's not inside the group outline then it sounds like a bug. Are you able to share the file or reproduce the issue in a different file?

Yes, Mynda, I have ensured that the button in its entirety is within the group outline but this is still occurring.  I even have it where I have two buttons in a group, working fine, and then I add a 3rd button outside the group and it automatically groups to the two button group source cell.  I change the one outside the group to a different source cell and the two button group change their source cell to it.   The lone button is no where near the group to be included in it.

I've attached it for you.  The worksheet in question is "template" and for now I've left the group outline visible to ensure that the buttons are within the parameters.  So follow up testing yes/no sometimes changes (should be Q19 as link cell); STEMI should be Q20 and conservative/aggressive should be Q21.  The latter buttons are the ones that are acting as one i.e. select one and the other enables.

The other problem area is under "MACE" and "Return to ED" and Cardiac Testing" with link cells of U24, U27 and U32 respectively.  For MACE, you'll note that the yes/no is a group of their own and then I want a series of other buttons that are not linked because more than one could be checked.  You'll note the buttons of AMI and CABG there now but once added they all want to act as an extension of the yes/no group and changing the AMI changes the yes/no to that cell.

I assume it's a bug but appreciate you taking a look.  Thanks.

Shelley

Hi Shelley

I believe your issue is you have multiple group boxes. They are hidden so you are unable to see them.

I have un-hidden them so you can see what is happening. Just get rid of these extra group boxes, regroup what you want and reset their linked cells.

Hope this helps.

Hi Shelley

There is also another button at cell H20 named STEMI that is also part of the group that is linked to cell V24.

You can see it's link by right clicking that button and see its linked cell on the formula bar.
