MAXIFS with VLOOKUP (or INDEX)

Hi. Any help would be much appreciated.

Say I am on Row 14, typing the formula into W14. Table Headers are on Row 7.

I need to look at C14, search the cells above ($C$8:$C13) for an exact match, and find the highest (latest) date for that row from column D ($D$8:$D13). Then look in column V (for the latest date Row) and return that value.

This is part of a larger formula, but it seems to be this bit I can't get right.

Whole Formula plan:

=IF(OR(V14="X",V14="Y",V14="Z"(carry out above query and if that query returns "X" "Y" or "Z"),"YES","No"),"No")

Sorry, first time posting, so apologies if it makes no sense.

Hi Ziggy 

Can you please add a sample workbook so we don't have to recreate the data? I also ensures that we have got the right format etc
