Hi
Due to the differences and the lack of functionality within the Mac version of excel when using pivot table and other add ons and application (Power Pivot, PowerBI etc), do you think it preferable to use a Microsoft operating system and the suite of projects as there are substantial operation and functional benefit in running a windows environment ?

Yes, absolutely! You can install Windows OS on your Mac using Parallels or similar VM software.
