I'm trying to create an IF THEN statement which will calculate a number based on meeting one of 5 different criteria. Can someone help?

We can't give you an accurate answer without seeing your data, please supply the workbook, criteria etc.
Do you have Office365? If so there are alternatives to nested IF.

Should I have so many criteria, I would consider using VLOOKUP() instead of multiple IFS.
