How to keep timeline filter (Qtr, Month, Day) active while locking the sheet?

Hi Zaki,
Select the timeline slicer > CTRL+1 to open the formatting > Properties > deselect 'locked'. Go to Review tab of ribbon > Protect Sheet > check the box for 'Use PivotTable and PivotChart'.

Unfortunately, it does not work that way. Protecting the sheet also disables the timeline filter. Although you can still use the slider and timeline box selection control.

Correct, protection like I describe allows the user to select periods in the timeline, but not change the aggregation from days, months, quarters and years. Timelines have a few bugs in them and it appears they were never properly implemented.
