Hi There,

I am trying to make an excel Graph and have to plot specific dates of the test on the graph (with a high/low range)but only want to enter the year on the bottom axis. The tests run over 3-4 years. Can this be done as I am having problems doing it.

I am attaching the graph in question which shows the dates of each test on the bottom axis whereas I have to show the year on the bottom axis but plot the actual dates of test on the graph.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Mick

Hi Mick,

Welcome to our forum!

You can use a chart label trick to do this as explained in this post. See your file attached.

Thanks Mynda,

Your help is much appreciated.

Can I include the years 2015 and 2016 in the bottom axis and have the years spaced out equally as this is what I was after even though there are no values to be plotted in those years?

I understand that this will mean the plotted values will be spread apart more.

Kind regards,

Mick

One final question regarding this matter.

If the chart label with the years at the bottom are evenly spaced and lets assume the years are spaced 1 inch apart.

will the plotted results be spaced according to when they were taken. So for instance if a test result was taken on 30 June 2014 would it appear half way along the 2014 year period. If it was taken 30 September 2014 would the plotted result appear 3/4 along the 2014 year width etc?

Many thanks once again.

Hi Mick,

You'd need to add data for the missing years. See example file attached.
