Hi Everyone,

I just started working with Powerapps.  I created the app first and now can't figure out how to direct to my OneDrive Excel file that I want to act as the data source.  I see a lot online about starting with the Excel file first and creating the app from that file, (should have researched first!), but is there anyway to connect an existing Excel file to the app already created?

Cheers,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Yes you can add a file as your data source after you've created the app, but it may (will) require reconfiguring your app.

I don't know what your app does but if you can start by creating the app from the workbook it can cut down on a lot of work.

Please read this if you haven't already

PowerApps and Excel Intro

What you need to do is connect to your OneDrive (if you haven't already you'll need to create a new Connection).  Then choose the file and table and it will be added as a data source.  Now you will have to modify your app to load/write data to/from the workbook.

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

Many thanks for the response.  I took your advice and started the process again using the Excel file as the starting point and building the app using the "create app from data" option - worked a treat!

Sincerely,

Alan
