(I am sorry - I asked this question sometime ago - I am sure Mynda answered it but I can not find my the original post to see the answer!  Probably because I am a dummy!!)

I have a long list over 100 items which I want to use in a drop down list with Data Validation.

The list is in the format : 1c,1d,1e,1f,2c,2d,2e,2f,3c,3d,3e,3f and so on.

The question was: can I somehow adjust the list so that if the user types in (say) 9 then only the values that begin with 9 are displayed and the user does not have to scroll through 100 items!

I think Mynda said that this was not possible with my version of excel that I had at the time (2013) but was possible with later versions. I am now on 2021.

If someone can even point me to the original question and answer I would appreciate it.

many thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Here is the original post and answer

Note: even with Office 2021, you still don't have this functionality. It's only available with 365.
