I loved the data validation list post which shortened the lists to remove blanks
Dynamically List Excel Sheet Names • My Online Training Hub
If I do these as 1 drop down list, they work fine
but when i try and have 2 validation lists with the 2nd being dependent on the outcome of a 1st the 2nd list doesn't populate.
e.g. Cell A1, The 1st validation list is just that validation set to list and then a source
2nd list , I use indirect(A1) as the source.
any ideas anyone please?

Without seeing what you did, we cannot say why.
It will be best if you upload a sample file with your attempt, will be much easier to help you.
