Hi,

I remember seeing here a clip showing how to create a field with Data Validation with unique values that comes from a list, when this list doesn't have unique values.

Appreciate if someone can refer me to that video.

Regards,

Ayal Telem.

Hi Ayal,

You can use the technique in this tutorial: Excel Sorted Dynamic Unique List.

Note: you cannot put a formula in the Data Validation dialog box. The formula must reside in the spreadsheet, and you can then reference the cells from the Data Validation dialog box.

When you use the UNIQUE function, you can then reference the results it returns with the spilled array operator so that new items are automatically included.

If you get stuck, please come back and share your file so we can help troubleshoot where things went wrong.

Mynda hi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me with the issue.

I've seen some sort of solutions like you suggested, but for some reason I thought I once saw you demostrate a better way to incorporate it into the Data Validation, but if you say this is the solution, I have to accept, as there is no argue with a godess 🙂

I solved it with what Mynda was kind enough to suggest.
