Hi sorry I'm not very good with excel. when I get to adding subcategory, I can't seem to pass this point and just get errors in the category column and category type column.

May I assume you are working on Mynda's Ultimate Personal Budget template? In any case, please upload your file so that we can see what exactly you are trying to accomplish.
