The question calls for a "Unique" list to be returned and my understanding of this is values which only occurs once in the 2 arrays and this is South America according the formula "=UNIQUE(VSTACK(C7:C11,G7:G12),FALSE,TRUE)". On the "3.68 Answer" sheet however, the correct answer is given as -
North America |
Asia Pacific |
UK |
MEA |
Europe |
South America |
according to the formula "=UNIQUE(VSTACK($C$7:$C$11,$G$7:$G$12))"
Hi Peter,
This is similar to an earlier question you raised. Unique is not the same as Distinct. The TRUE argument in the UNIQUE function will return only distinct values. I.e. values that occur exactly once in both arrays. That is not the same as a list of unique items in these arrays. Such list will include all values but it will include each one, only once.

Hi Peter,
Strictly speaking you are correct however, most people incorrectly think a distinct list is a unique list, so I have maintained that vernacular here, because most of the time you actually want a distinct list. This is also why the default for the UNIQUE function is to return a distinct list.
