Based on the lesson in your opinion which is the best way of doing data validation for charts? I am doing it the first way that it is shown and it is proving to be a pain if I need to add a chart. Is the pivot table way an easier approach to adding a chart?

Hi Matt,
I would only use that approach if you wanted different chart types or different formatting for each chart. Otherwise, Slicers and Pivot Charts are the way to go.
