Hi Mynda!
I'm so excited to implement the tips and tricks and info I am receiving in these courses! The first two dashboards I created were prior to taking the course so I am tweaking them as I learn more. The first one - a cash short/over dashboard - has a pivot table that shows the clerks that are short or over and how much of the total they were responsible for. I was never happy about how it displayed; after your heat map course I decided that might be perfect so I created it, I like it so much better!
The problem I have is this:
I would like the sort to be by color. To get it set up to display correctly I needed to set the min and max colors to be the same and the mid range to blend with my background as they are in the "normal" range; to sort I am restricted to largest to smallest or smallest to largest which puts my "normal" range in the middle of my list. I have included a screenshot of my heat map for reference, any ideas would be well received. Thank you so much!
Hi Jessica,
Welcome to our forum!
If you want to sort by a custom range you should add another column that classifies the data numerically into the sort order you want and then sort by that column.
Hope that points you in the right direction. If you get stuck, please provide a sample Excel file so we can help you further.

I'm struggling to get this advice to work, I have attached an example of the pivot and source data.
Hi Jessica,
Seeing that you don't want to display the values, just the colours, you can add a column that takes the absolute value of the HRGC and use that in your PivotTable with Conditional Formatting colour scales. I've left the values in the PivotTable, but you can hide them with your custom number format.

That worked perfectly! Thank you so very much!
