I have one data table, and from that I created 3 Pivot Tables.  From the 3 pivot tables (all are duplicates of one another, with different fields selected) I have created 12 total slicers. I also have created a  separate table that pulls data from the Pivots based on the selections of all the Slicers.  That table feeds my Dashboard charts and graphs.

Everything works as expected with one exception.  When I adjust selections in any/all slicers, I can confirm that the Pivots do update automatically, however that table that pulls the data from the pivots does not update automatically.  In turn the charts and graphs in the Dashboard do not update.

However, once I click "Save" button, and after the file completes the "Saving" process all tables graphs and charts update correctly with the expected results.  All that being said, I have two questions:

  • Why is this happening?
  • How can I avoid having to "Save" the entire file just to see the revised results from changing my Slicer selections?

Hi Loren,

Welcome to our forum!

You say "however that table that pulls the data from the pivots does not update automatically", what table? How did you create this table?

Mynda, thanks for your reply.  To clarify, I have to say that technically I created a simple "GRID". not "Table" that pulls data from my pivot tables.

The Grid pulls the data from my pivots via a variety of "VLOOKUP" commands placed inside of the cells of the grid.   That grid is the source point of the data that populates the charts and graphs on my Dashboard.  The slicers are connected to my 3 pivot tables.

My actual source file populating the pivots is roughly 800 K records by 30 columns.  It contains shipment data, including addresses, costs, cost item codes, activity dates, etc....

Thanks for clarifying. It sounds like you have calculations set to manual. Go to the Formula tab > Calculation Options > make sure it's set to Automatic.
