Filled Map gradient

Is it possible to change the gradient colours of a filled map based on the values of a slicer?

At the moment, my filled map it configured for default values and the gradient looks fine. When I select from a slicer, the colours don't change, so the map basically becomes just one colour.

Is it possible for the gradient to change (i.e. min, centre and max values) with the slicers?

Thanks

I'm not sure I fully understand the question, Robert. That said, my guess is no, it's not possible because the gradient is dictated by the range of values in the chart, as opposed to colour coded based on an item selected in the Slicer.

If I've misunderstood, perhaps you could upload an example Excel file that illustrates what you're working with.

Thank you, Mynda. That's what I was (unfortunately) expecting!!

When I create a Shape Map visual, the gradient colours for the values get automatically created for the range of values being displayed.

When I apply a filter or slicer, then the data values change, the map colours change, but the map colours still use the original range so the map becomes just a single colour. It would be nice if the map 'recalculates' the range of values and so adjusts the colour gradient to suit.

BTW - I'm in PowerBI.

Thanks for all your help.

From what I remember, the shape map charts in Power BI are fairly limited. You might be able to write a measure that filters the results displayed in the map so that it also updates it's gradient, but I'm only speculating.

Thank you, Mynda. I'll give that a go. Sounds like a plan!

Yes - Shape Maps are a pain - unless you live in the US where there are loads. Here in GB you have to create your own if you want anything that isn't just UK wide!! Fortunatley, there are Gov sites with the right data to start to create county and region maps.
